Who can help when letters, words, and books are not your friend?

You probably learned how to read when you were very young. You may have had some normal challenges, but you likely overcame them with relative ease.

Children with dyslexia face a far different struggle that can be overcome—but only through early, evidence-based intervention. Without it, they will experience limited reading ability, diminished fluency development, and less vocabulary growth.

taking flight. a window of opportunity.

There is no quick, simple cure for dyslexia—but we can take action to help children with dyslexia break the code and take flight.

When children are young, their brains are still developing. Their cerebral elasticity gives us a valuable window of opportunity to strengthen and change neural pathways with specialized, evidence-based, multisensory, structured dyslexia intervention.

We need highly trained professionals to make it happen.

We need your help to help these students.

The Dyslexia Center of Austin is striving to provide students throughout Texas with access to exceptionally trained Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALT).

Since opening our doors in 2014, over 155 dedicated, hardworking, and fearless CALTs/Dyslexia Therapists in Training have participated in our Dyslexia Therapist Training Program.

This extremely rigorous 2-year graduate-level program requires 230 hours of direct instruction with Dyslexia Center of Austin’s team of Qualified Instructors, 10 demonstration lessons to document growth as a dyslexia therapist, and over 700 hours of supervised instructional time with students.

These exceptional educators show up each day—in the face of great obstacles—and fill their students’ academic and emotional toolboxes. Indeed, they are changing the trajectory of children’s lives.
