Principal/Administration Responsibilities
Allow the trainee to teach the Take Flight curriculum with fidelity and as prescribed:
60-minute sessions four (4) days/week (Highly Recommended) OR
45-minute session five (5) days/weekAllow trainee to instruct a minimum of three (3) Take Flight groups of 1-5 students per group for two (2) consecutive school years
Do not add students to a Take Flight group once instruction has begun, as this program is sequential and cumulative. However, forming a new group during the school year is possible.
Provide an enclosed teaching space with a large magnetic whiteboard dedicated to Take Flight instruction and not shared during instructional times
Allow the trainee to be absent for four (4) days each school year for training with no financial penalty. Attendance is mandatory.
Allow trainee to attend two (2) professional conferences related to dyslexia (1 per year of training)
Minimize the trainee’s additional school responsibilities during the two (2) year training period
Trainee Responsibilities

45-minute session five (5) days/weekAttend and actively participate in all mandatory training: Intro Summer Course, four (4) Intro Seminars, Advanced Summer Course, and four (4) Advanced Seminars.
Complete all homework assignments and book reports by the assigned due date
Teach a minimum of three (3) Take Flight groups of 1-5 students per group for two (2) consecutive school years
Submit and pass ten (10) taped demonstration lessons—five (5) per school year
Attend two (2) approved professional conferences related to dyslexia (1 per year of training)
Submit periodic progress reports and student progress monitoring by the assigned date.
Achieve 700 hours of clinical teaching hours with students using the Take Flight curriculum
Signing this document indicates to the Dyslexia Center of Austin that the Principal/School agrees to the requirements outlined in it and agrees to implement training requirements independent of future administrative changes.
