Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of the Dyslexia Center of Austin’s mission to provide education, services, and support for individuals with dyslexia and related learning differences, and for the community invested in empowering them to thrive.

inward reflection

Dyslexia Center of Austin’s commitment to empowering people is unwavering. We celebrate a diversity of voices, foster authentic learning, and strive to create an inclusive culture that reflects the communities we serve.

This journey begins at home with actions we take within our organization. There is always more work to be done.

With an emphasis on diversity of color, gender, culture, and skill set, the Dyslexia Center of Austin strives to build a more diverse and inclusive organization where everyone feels engaged, valued, and supported in their professional journey and safe to be their authentic selves.

The Dyslexia Center of Austin also works to continuously improve our policies, recruitment efforts, and leadership team.

Awareness and improvement of diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organization enable us to better understand and respond to the diverse needs of the dyslexia community.

outward momentum

Dyslexia doesn’t discriminate. Dyslexia impacts children of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, cultures, socioeconomic levels, languages, genders, and intellectual levels. The stakes are high. 1 in 5 have dyslexia, many undiagnosed.

With educator training at the core of our mission, the Dyslexia Center of Austin can directly impact the most significant number of diverse students with the highest need—leveling the playing field and changing the trajectory of children’s lives.

With an emphasis on diversity of color, gender, culture, and knowledge, the Dyslexia Center of Austin continuously works to improve program policies and proactively recruit diverse candidates for our various initiatives, including educator training, educational evaluation services, and therapy-level intervention for students with dyslexia.

Together, we can move our organization and mission forward to serve better students with dyslexia and support the community invested in empowering them to thrive.
